Feeling fat lasts nine months but the joy of becoming a mom lasts forever.

What is it to be a woman? To have the power to create and carry life within our womb? To have the strength to carry on when our womb or our body fails us? To be a mother, a daughter? Power lies within our very beings. Perhaps it’s that great power that undermines us. We worry so much about how we look, or how we’re perceived. I adore maternity photography for a thousand and one reasons, but helping women see their inner strength, their inner goddess is chief among them.

We as women have a distorted world view of ourselves. How we look, how we act, how others perceive us. We’re wrong. Dead wrong. You are beautiful, radiant, and wise. You have the power to change lives. It may not be in the way you imagined or idealized, but have no doubt that you can. You are beautiful, and it’s high time that you own it. Someone else may compliment you or tear you down, but when you know you’re gorgeous, no one can take it from you. If you’re carrying a child, try not to worry about your body. Your skin may change. Your hair may never be the same. It goes unsaid that it’s worth it, but as you adapt to these changes, know that it’s just your beauty transforming. A caterpillar is covered with a chrysalis until it transforms into a butterfly. I know. You don’t feel like a butterfly, but you are. You underwent a magnificent transformation and came out the other side with wings.
