Newborn Photographer & Miss Mackenzie
I met this amazing mom on December 10th, 2014. Who would have thought that exactly one year later I would be photographing her newborn daughter? Most people don’t know when they meet other people what the purpose behind it is in the great scheme of things, but this day was special and she was special.
We met at an unfortunate party in our neighborhood. What we thought would be a holiday party of neighbors turned out to be a ‘what we could do better’ and ‘what folks were doing wrong’. We had only moved in ten days prior and were already being lectured at a holiday party. ‘.
It was my birthday and I was at a neighborhood party waiting for a friend to drive up and scoop me away to celebrate. I wanted to make a good impression as the new neighbors, but I was really sad about how the party was progressing. She saved me. As I grabbed my second glass of wine and wandered toward the only woman who looked my age, I choked out a meek greeting. We talked and I lost track of time. As soon as I realized it, I ran to my phone to see that my friend Kelly had been sitting outside texting me. Waiting for me. I felt terrible, but also did not want this conversation to end with this amazing, smart and talented lady. I asked her to come with me and celebrate my birthday. Believe it or not, she did!
She is a gutsy, smart, kind, soft soul. I am proud to not only have met her on my birthday, but also to be asked to capture the newborn photos of her sweet girl exactly one year later.
Since we met, my dog and assistant, Abby, has developed a huge crush on their sweet first baby, Jack, a black lab. I also have a huge crush on my great neighbors!
Please meet my favorite neighbor, and her precious daughter Mackenzie.
