Intimate Newborn Lifestyle Photography
The best thing about being a Newborn Photographer is the chance to well- be around newborns.
Before I had a baby, people would tell me “Time goes by so fast.” You can’t possibly comprehend it until you have a child of your own. One day you are so nervous, changing every wet diaper on your super fragile newborn you wish you could surround with bubble wrap – then you blink- it’s suddenly two years later- and they are standing on the toilet to use the bathroom telling you to “Go away!” because they’ve got this.
Time does go by so fast.
There is no way to explain it. I only seem to notice it in the small things: when I fold laundry and the house is quiet, I look down at the pants I am folding and think, “When did he get so big? Where did my little baby go?”
How can we possibly stop to smell the roses when we are so unaware of our children growing around us?
It goes by so fast.
Being around a new life is really an honor; sometimes I get to see a new baby even before friends and family who are already in love with someone they have yet to meet. I get to be there to witness a new life producing little, rhythmic breaths, hiccups, stretches and yawns. Every part of these tiny people is amazing. I could stare at a newborn for hours. Nothing else in this life is as captivating as a new child.
This sweet family in my most recent newborn session moved here from their hometown of Austin, Texas. They both love the outdoors, camping and hiking in the stunning Pacific Northwest. And like me, they love food and cooking, especially vegetables, legumes, and gluten-free goodies.
Mom did not waste a minute creating special memories with her little boy, Ryder. While he was still in the comforts of the womb, Mom would play him sweet songs on her guitar and banjo. Both Mom and Dad are creative, smart, and kind people. Ryder is so lucky to have been born into this family.
Both Mom and Dad set their sights on a home birth with some of my favorite midwives in Seattle.
Little Ryder was born into the warm, loving arms of his Mom and Dad at home April 25th at 6:53 p.m.
Their lifestyle newborn session was photographed in the comfort of their home only one week after Ryder was born. I am so, so lucky to have captured these beautiful and touching moments between this family in this precious, fleeting time.
Welcome to the world, Ryder.
