Seattle Photographer | Corporate Headshots
Today my usual toddler and newborn clientele got left at home for the corporate headshot. I could not have been happier for the change in venue and opportunity to flex my creative portrait muscles. I probably got carried away – but it was a blast.
According to their website; these two women are more awesome then they let off in person. Two humble, kind and powerful women in the community and it was an honor to capture them.
**Excerpts below are taken from their website.**
Annie has a fifteen year history in nonprofit leadership including two previous roles as an Executive Director. She has demonstrated a strong commitment to social justice, youth outreach, and advocacy work throughout her career and volunteer commitments. Annie grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota and has experience with community outreach work in cities on both coasts as well as rural communities.
Robin Marquis was brought into the world by a lesbian mother, a bisexual mother and a queer father. Raised in rural northern New Mexico, she found her pride in her family by connecting to a community of peers dedicated to eradicating oppression and privilege for all disadvantaged communities. Robin has a self designed degree from Fairhaven College at Western Washington University titled, “Empowerment Education through the Environment and Creative Arts,” with a LGBT Cultural Studies minor. Robin has worked in Seattle with Powerful Voices, Camp Ten Trees, YouthCare, and Teen Link providing social justice youth empowerment programming that creates leadership and healing arts education for marginalized youth. Robin lives in San Francisco where she creates art that provides voice and color to silenced topics in her own life.
They are part of this amazing organization Colage:
COLAGE unites people with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and/or queer parents into a network of peers and supports them as they nurture and empower each other to be skilled, self-confident, and just leaders in our collective communities.
We envision a world in which youth with one or more lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and/or queer (LGBTQ) parents are connected to a broad community of peers and mentors, are recognized as the authorities of their shared experiences, belong to respected and valued family structures, and have the tools and support to create and maintain a just society.
- We value social justice and the pursuit of greater social equity.
- We value community building.
- We value the voices of youth eight to eighteen as leaders in our community.
- We value inclusivity, diversity, and cultural competency.
- We value our responsibility as people with LGBTQ parents to support ourselves, each other, and our broader community.
