Family Photography. It’s an event in and of itself. I cried during my first family photography session. I am not even going to feel crazy for it either.

Like most Moms, we are the family photographers. We snap most of the photos that land in our online and physical albums. We are rarely in photos. My son was six months old and I had not had time to do maternity photos or newborn photos (shocking, I know) and there I was, a total mess on the day of our family photos. My son was not behaving; he did not want anything to do with me. I was desperate for photos of me and my baby who made me this very sleep deprived, leaky boob, walking zombie. No Joke. Photography is not just photography. It captures so much more.
Today was one of those days for me. Nothing was going right and I had way too much on my plate. Frustrated, I sat for what should have been a simple 15-minute drive to Costco that took 45 minutes; shopped at Costco (we all know the joy that brings), stood in line for another 10 minutes, got to the front to see my AMEX card was missing. All of that for nothing. I could feel the four small hours of my child free day getting squeezed.
After that fiasco, I went to the Post Office. I just knew I was asking for it. I stood in line while one unfortunate federal employee worked hard to help a line of 30 people. After 30 minutes, I arrived at the service desk to buy stamps. They were out. Of course they were. I felt my hand slap my forehead harder than I intended. It was one of those days. We all have them. Sometimes it happens at Costco, and sometimes it happens during your photography session. And you know what? It’s okay.
Sunday, I was on my 4th Session for the day. I was tired. These munchkins felt the same. They were not interested in almost all the tricks I had up my sleeve. It was one of those days and this family drove up from Tacoma for this session! It was important to make sure they left with some great photos.
I think we overcame. I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I do.
