Happy Noises and Interruptions
Kirkland Newborn Photography | Seattle Photographer
Have you ever noticed that with age you have a different tolerance for different volume levels and interruptions? Today, as a family photographer, I can say confidently that I can tolerate almost anything!
Back in college, before my family photography days, I would call my best friend who already had two little ones and I could barely hear her with the screams, laughter, and interruptions that would happen on the other end of the phone. I would get so frustrated with it all, and would become even more irate that she was not equally frustrated. I can totally admit I really struggled hanging out with her because her attention was always split into so many different directions. She was a mom and I was not; I just didn’t get it.
Now as a mom, I have come to accept loud, boisterous play, and multiple interruptions and can even talk right through it. I now can spot those without children who struggle like I did. Volume and tolerance levels change with the different phases in your life.
Watching this mom of three juggle her duties and attention is like watching an ice skater gliding softly and effortlessly along in the rink. She was graceful and prompt with praises and boundaries. She had just had a baby and with ease she transitioned into this role with elegance. Her home was full of happy noises and interruptions of love, curiosity, and questions.
One day, when our babies are all grown up, we will hear and feel the silence and long for an interruption.
When I walked into this session she expressed her and her partners’ love of candid moments and what they hoped to capture for their family. I hope I served their vision well.
Please enjoy this sweet Kirkland Newborn Photography session.
