Rain, Rain Go Away | Seattle Photographer
This was surprisingly, and thankfully, our first re-schedule of the year! You would think there would be more reschedules for outdoor sessions in Seattle, but this year has been nothing but sunshine and blue skies until the day, nay the moment, of this family’s session. We all sat in our respective cars watching the rain pummel our windshield as we looked out onto the field we were supposed to be shooting on. It was a no-go, and I truly felt bad. It is stressful to get your munchkins and husband into clothes that will look great, abstain from feeding them for fear of stains, and get out the door on time. Moms are 99% of the time the one that holds the family photography torch and makes it happen. I will never underestimate that the moments leading up to the shoot can indeed be stressful- particularly on mom!
We decided to attempt a re-shoot the following week, and I am so glad we did! It was a stunning, warm day in September.
“You are you. Now, isn’t that pleasant?” – Dr. Seuss
This quote reminds us that it’s great to be ourselves. There’s no one else we can possibly be, and it’s a lovely thought that it’s pleasant to embrace who we are. Being happy to be yourself is the key to a happy existence, and it really doesn’t make any sense to be less than pleased to be you. If there are things you don’t quite like about yourself, you can change them. You will grow to find love for yourself, and discover how pleasant it is to be you and no one else.
